S SBTi The Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting. The science-based targets provide a clearly defined pathway for companies and financial institutions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Targets are considered ‘science-based’ if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. SDGs The United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals that were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. The UN SDGs address a range of social needs, including education, health, social protection and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection. They serve as a framework to promote prosperity while protecting the planet to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. Example: SDG 13 is “Climate action”.
